President

Monica Dyess-Martinez

Monica is an Advertising major, with a concentration in Digital Media, and a Sociology minor.  She has been apart of Ad Club since the beginning of her Freshman year. She decided to get involved early, because she wanted to see if Advertising was a career she could be passionate about.  From the first meeting, it was love at first sight. Not only does she love Advertising, but she loves being a Bobcat and representing Texas State University.  In doing so, she was a New Student Orientation Leader in the summer of 2018. Finding a new passion in supporting her peers, she decided to become a Peer Mentor leading into her Senior year.  She hopes to make a positive impact on the Bobcat community where they can learn to thrive not only academically but emotionally in this sometimes stressful transition. In her free time, Monica enjoys photography, watching endless amounts of reality TV, and traveling when the financial stars align.

Industry Relations

Shelby Atkinson

Shelby is an Advertising major, with a concentration in Digital Media, and an Art minor.  She has been a member of Ad Club since 2018. She made the choice to pursue advertising after hearing a guest speaker and professor speak in one of her lectures about their career as an account planner. It wasn’t long after that she realized her interest in both psychology and design translated perfectly into a career as a strategist/planner. After being introduced to Ad Club, she realized that one of the most important resources offered through the organization was the ability to show students what they will experience as an integral part of the industry after they graduate. She was inspired by all the amazing guest speakers and tours organized by the club and she knew she wanted to contribute. Her goal is to help inspire other students as she was by inviting top industry professionals to speak at meetings and of course, securing the most coveted agency tours.  In her free time, Shelby is an avid book-reader and nature-seeker. You can find her at her local greenbelt or anywhere you can find coffee. Wherever you find her, she is most likely consuming as much content as possible.
